Sorry (not sorry) for the excess of photos here, as you can see there was a lot on offer at the show! A couple of weeks ago I went to the Cake and Bake show in London with my mum. It was the first time I'd been, and I have to say I was slightly disappointed at the lack of free food on offer, I think it should be mandatory for all stalls to give out free samples. That being said, I did try a few tasty bits and bobs. One major criticism I have was that the stalls were extremely close together, probably a marketing ploy to force people to panic buy, but it did get a bit overwhelming at times! The actual show had some great features, such as getting to see Eric Lanlard and John Whaite bake some food in the (gorgeous) flesh. I also bought some lovely daisy patterned cake cases, always a bonus. There were some incredible cakes on show, as well as a man sculpting Batman out of chocolate (!!), and a pretty incredible Queen cake accompanied by a corgi. I doubt I'll be going back next year, but it was a really great experience, definitely a must for anyone who loves cake!

Whilst attempting (read: not trying at all) to write my personal statement, I thought it would be nice to take a break and have a little baked treat as a reward for all my hard work. I had travel injections this morning, so I was looking for an easy and quick fix for my cravings, which would require minimal effort. Recently, I've been seeing more and more 'single serving' recipes, which are perfect if, like me, you are always a little wary of internet recipes as they can easily lead to the waste of good quality ingredients (see rant here). So, this recipe for 2 chocolate chip cookies looked perfect!
I used the recipe here from No. 2 Pencil, and it is wonderful! Perfectly gooey in the middle, slightly crispy edges, and just the right amount of chocolate! I had to bake my cookies for 11 minutes rather than the 8 suggested, but they are so quick and simple to make. I'll definitely be making these again soon, along with her Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup recipe (I'll use the egg white not needed in this recipe - even less waste!).

My best friend had her birthday party a few days ago, and in celebration I made her a giaant smartie cookie. I used the recipe from 'Eat Me' book by Cookie Girl, and I used about 2/3 of the mixture to make this, and the left overs to make 5 smaller cookies. I put some glitter on the middle smarties which spelled 'L' (for Lucy!) to make them stand out a bit more. This is definitely my favourite recipe, always a winner!

I love this lip balm. It 's moisturising, it adds a lovely subtle colour to your lips, and it is cheaaaap! I haven't seen something of this high a quality in the shops for so little in a long time.
When I bought this balm, I didn't properly look at the colour until I had paid for it and taken it out of the packaging. I was quite shocked when I saw it, expecting something pale and wishy-washy, but instead being greeted by what looks like neon pink lip balm. However, my doubts were squashed when I put it on, as the balm goes on very lightly and adds just a hint of colour, rather than full on bright pink. It is perfect for daytime use as it isn't too eye catching and you can put it on without a mirror, which is always a bonus. The actual product smells amazing, and it doesn't rub off as quickly as I was expecting, considering it is a lip balm. It really moisturised my lips and now I've found myself with it constantly in my bag, as the colour goes with everything!
Once this one runs out, I'll definitely be picking this up in different shades, I have my eye on 'Cherry Me'...
